If you like the batter on Long John Silvers' fish, this recipe helps you get that same taste at home for about half the price!
INGREDIENTS:
3⁄4 cup flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
3⁄4 cup water
4 boneless white fish fillets (tilapia, cod, etc.)
Note: You can also use this batter for boneless/skinless chicken, shrimp or even onion rings!
Season Tilapia on both sides lightly with salt (I used Old Bay Seasoning).
Sift dry ingredients.
Add water and mix well using a whisk, to get out any large lumps.
Dip/coat fish, chicken fillets, shrimp in batter. Cover completely.
Deep fry @ 350° F until a nice golden brown. Note: Fin fish should be cooked to an internal temp of 145 degrees 145° F.
